Passionate, inspired, determined

These are a few words to describe Kimokeo Kapahulehua (aka: "Uncle Bully" or "Uncle Kimokeo"). Uncle Kimokeo is a pillar in our Maui community and makes an incredible effort to address a vast number of issues facing us today.

From youth groups, ancient fishponds and canoe voyaging to land preservation and invasive species -Kimokeo has spearheaded many projects and initiatives. He has an incredible depth of knowledge about the land and people, and is able to relate the ancient Kingdom of Hawai’i to the current State of Hawai`i in a realistic manner that helps create solutions.

People who learn to paddle with Kimokeo at Kihei Canoe Club gain far more than the ability to paddle the canoe.  They learn the history, culture, chants and spirituality of the interaction between man, earth and ocean. His passion for canoe voyaging is inspiring. It's a mission of responsible stewardship and respect for the land, sea and kupuna (ancestors).
