Mahalo Akua, Mahalo Na Amakua, Mahalo Kupuna, Mahalo Kumu.
Uncle Kimokeo was struck with a rare condition called sepsis caused by leptospirosis and suffered kidney failure. His amazing recovery and the miracle that occurred when family, friends and community came together to stand by Uncle Kimokeo is a testament to his perseverance and the love in his heart.

Kure Atoll, Goal Attained
|
15 July 08
Kure Atoll is a very small Island surrounded by a beautiful, white sand beach. Getting there has required 73 ½ hrs of paddling in a 40-foot, 6-person, fiberglass canoe in conditions that, in the end, were not beautiful by any means.
The most recent communication from our voyagers indicates that their goal, remote Kure Atoll, was reached at 1500 hours on the 14th of July. Distance paddled was 431 statute miles. The final day of paddling was accomplished in the largest seas seen during the journey. The blackness of the sky and ocean during the three hours after the setting of the moon and the coming of the dawn, combined by powerful seas, struck some measure of fear among most of the paddlers. Powerful swells, spray driven by cold wind, and the overwhelming dark made the last part of the paddle memorable. Perhaps even unforgettable. Read more at HOCVS BLOG |

Group of paddlers to undertake 480-mile, four-day nonstop trip By KEKOA CATHERINE ENOMOTO, Staff Writer Maui News
As a 1,670-mile transarchipelago voyage in a six-person outrigger canoe culminates this month, challenges persist - not the least of which is construction of bunks for 16 paddlers on the deck of the escort vessel.
"We've had to essentially build our accommodations on the Lady Alice because it's a fishing boat set up and designed to catch fish, not paddlers," said Jamie Woodburn of Kula, logistics guru of the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society, speaking by phone Wednesday from Oahu. |
